No More Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street?

No More Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street?

Some interesting tidbits coming out of Twitterland this morning concerning Platinum Dunes and their future with our beloved Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises. Nothing too surprising but the source is pretty air-tight.

Dunes producer Brad Fuller reappeared on Twitter this morning to set the record straight on whether or not we’d be seeing Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger again courtesy of the production house.

It’s not looking good for Elm Street’s boogeyman. Probably because someone at Warner Bros. actually watched last year’s remake and wondered what in the hell they’d done. Fuller says we shouldn’t be holding our breaths for another one: “As for Freddy, as far as I know, there isnt even talk of writing another script.

Regarding Friday the 13th, Fuller had this to say: “Shannon and Swift wrote a great script. We are ready to go, when New Line is ready. But as of yet, they are not ready.” There have been rumors floating around the web as to whether or not the studio would move ahead on another Friday without Platinum Dunes at the helm, and Fuller’s comments do not necessarily confirm or deny those rumblings.

So there ya have it. It’s a bit of non-news, really, but it’s straight from the source. Chances are pretty good that Platinum Dunes will be leaving these franchises behind. Which means we can all look forward to the inevitable remakes in five years time.
